On Saturday 8 April 2017 we staged our Easter show in Kraaifontein, Western Cape.
It is increasingly difficult to find affordable show halls. The Kraaifontein Town Hall has never been available in the past and what a pleasant surprise it was, when we could book it this year. It is a lovely venue, with ample parking and easy accessibility. It has mostly artificial light, but is spacious and also has excellent catering facilities and provided the tables and chairs. Unfortunately it is not a good venue to attract a large number of visitors. It is a pity that we are loosing entries due to the many new rules and requirements for WCF shows. Despite this we managed to attract 111 entries.
Cages were decorated according to the Easter theme. The exhibitors who decorated their cages excelled once again and it is a pity that there were only 3 prizes available.
We followed the tried and tested triple-show recipe again on the day, with two independent shows running at the same time. This was again a separate event to the CASA WCF show and not a joint show, but yet affording the exhibitors, visitors and student judges the opportunity to attend three shows on one day. The results of the AICA show and OSRBG show can be viewed on their websites.
A Longhair judges exam was conducted during the CASA show and the candidates passed. Congratulations to Sonya Lindeque for now being qualified as International Allbreed Judge.
Hills & Cats Best again sponsored the prizes. The Hills Representative was present throughout the day and had a lovely table, displaying the various product Hills has to offer and all the goodies available to the Breeders Club members. Hills also sponsored the show financially. Without this support the show would not have been possible, as the expense on putting on a show is soaring.
Judges were from Cape Town and Gauteng. Our allbreed judge from Gauteng was Dina Freitas, SACC judge.
The show was a great success and thoroughly enjoyed by all.
