CASA Show Nr 47 - Durbanville, Western Cape (Region ZA-010)

Our 47th show was held again in our "home town", Durbanville. This time as part of a multi-show weekend, joining our friends of the All Breeds Cat Club who had their 6 ring SACC show on Saturday at the same venue. We could also share the visiting judges and re-affimed old friendships and made new ones.
For the third time we had a triple-show event on the show day. Three shows held on one day, this time with the two independent shows running at the same time. This was a separate event to the CASA WCF show and not a joint show, but it still affording the exhibitors, visitors and student judges the opportunity to attend three shows on one day. The results of the AICA show and OSRBG show can be viewed on their websites.
Hills & Cats sponsored the prizes. Both sponsors had information tables at the show.
We had a fair number of visitors and once again was featured in the local newspaper Tygerburger the week after the show.
Judges came from Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal, the Eastern Cape and Western Cape provinces.
The show was a great success and the harmony was only briefly spoiled when an SPCA inspector turned up, demanding to "inspect" the show. He was not allowed in the hall, as the show manager did not give permission and according to the Animal Protection Act, only a court order by a Magistrate and accompanying Police can override the non-permission to enter the premises. Apparently a complaint was received and the SPCA reacted on that. We have it on good authority that the "complaint" was laid by a notorious disgruntled ex-member of the club. It is sad that the SPCA see fit to waste their well meaning donors' money in this way. The exhibitors and members who were all witness to this, were reminded by the show manager that they should keep this incident in mind when deciding which animal charity to support in future. The club will do the same.
