CASA Show Nr 49 - Durbanville, Western Cape (Region ZA-010)
27 June 2015
Our 49th show was again in our "home town", Durbanville.
The show was dedicated to the memory of Jeanine Grobbelaar, a founder member of the club and internationally known for her Loeloeraai Tonkinese cattery, who passed away a few weeks earlier. Many exhibitors were dressed in her favourite colour, purple and the show was openend with one minute silence in her honour. The cage decorations followed this theme and there was a lovely display done by her sisters Celinde & Tanya. There were also a few cats bred by her were on a special exhibition. The Powerpoint presentation screened during the show can be viewed here.
We followed the tried and tested triple-show recipe again on the day, with two independent shows running at the same time. This was again a separate event to the CASA WCF show and not a joint show, but yet affording the exhibitors, visitors and student judges the opportunity to attend three shows on one day. The results of the AICA show and SACATS show can be viewed on their websites.
Hills & Cats Best generously sponsored the prizes. We had literally a truck load of Ideal Balance, including a gift for every exhibit. The Hills Representative was present throughout the day and had lots of product to give away to the visitor and exhibitors and of course sound advice and information. Nobody went home empty handed.
We did not have as large a number of visitors as usual, as the venue is off the beaten track and the overstretched organisers did not have sufficient time before the show to promote it effectively to the general public.
Judges were mostly from Cape Town, but we were privileged to have visiting "celebrity judge" Jan Rogers, Senior CFA AB judge from Texas.
This is a lovely, tranquil venue, in the centre of the Durbanvile Horse Racecourse and we were blessed with clear skies and views of the beautiful green surrondings.
The show manager's cellphone storage space ran out towards the end of the event, so many photographs of the winners had to be begged and borrowed from the other photographers present. Thank you to all who contributed.
The show was again a great success and a fitting start to this year's show season. Well done to all!
