CAT ASSOCIATION OF SOUTHERN AFRICA
Welcome to the Home Page of the Cat Association of Southern Africa.
CASA is a non-profit club, run by volunteers and our website is non-professional and for information purposes only, not for commercial gain.
If you come across any errors, broken links or uncertainties, please advise the webmaster by e-mail at [email protected]. If you have any suggestions for improvements, please also let us know, but please no offers from commercial companies wanting to upgrade the website at a fee.
Please visit all the different sections of the site and enjoy browsing the show results and other information, as well as the host of information available at the sites on our links page.
If you wish to register as a new breeder, you need a mentor, as well as provide proof of your commitment to uphold or improve the quality of your breed, by owning at least one cat with a Grand Champion/Premier title. Please see the relevant information on the Forms, Breed Codes & Fees page. If you are already a registered breeder elsewhere and also want to register with CASA, you do not need a mentor and will find the relevant form on the same page.
Complaints:
Please note that any comments or complaints about a CASA member will be forwarded to the relevant person for comment. Correspondence with the committee is not confidential.
Also note that CASA cannot guarantee the suitability, health or nature of kittens. Our certified pedigrees are correct according to our best knowledge and as supplied by the breeders. Breeders listed on the website are those members who requested to be listed. CASA does not state that these breeders are reputable in all respects, as it is impossible to inspect or "police" breeder members. CASA does not have any control over breeders other than to refuse continued membership and registration of kittens, when proof of fraud is received. CASA cannot arbitrate in disputes between buyers and breeders of kittens.
Breeders and buyers of kittens should ensure that both parties are satisfied with the health, suitability and nature (socialization) of the kitten at the time of leaving for it's new home. Do not sell or accept a kitten if both parties are not 100% satisfied. Kittens shipped without the new owner physically seeing the kitten, should be checked by a veterinarian the day before shipping and a health certificate should be issued and sent to the new owner before shipping. Breeders are responsible for supplying the certificate by e-mail, before the kitten is shipped. Buyers are responsible for not accepting a kitten, unless such a certificate have been received beforehand. This will prevent disputes about the health of the kitten. The responsibility to ensure that this procedure is followed is that of both the breeder and the buyer, not with CASA.
According to WCF rules, no cat or kitten may be given to a new owner without a pedigree or before the age of 12 weeks. It is the obligation of the breeder/owner, as well as the new owner to ensure that no cat or kitten is handed over, or accepted without a pedigree, or before the age of 12 weeks. The names of the breeder and new owner should be indicated on the pedigree handed over at the time of handing over and accepting the cat/kitten. It is acceptable to provide an official registration certificate at a later stage. CASA will not entertain any complaints about not receiving pedigrees or an under age kitten from new owners, as the obligation is with the new owner to ensure that a cat/kitten is not accepted without a pedigree, or before the age of 12 weeks.
